‘Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana’ for widows launched In Jharkhand
On the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, the state of Jharkhand has launched a unique housing scheme only for the widows of the state. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand has made this announcement and decided to provide housing as well as pension facilities, especially designed for the widows of the state. This housing scheme is named after the Dr. Ambedkar and will be implemented soon in the state. There are some existing housing policies in the state but no such housing scheme for widows was there. So the widows, especially of the backward classes and tribes of the state will get housing benefits under this scheme.

Number of housing units under the Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana
As per the Housing Ministry, a total of 11 thousand houses will be build under this especial housing policy. This project will start as soon as possible and will be implemented over the financial year of 2016 – 2017. This is considered a major step in the women empowerment initiative in the state. The main criteria regarding the nature of beneficiaries of this housing scheme is that the beneficiaries must be widowed and resident of the state of Jharkhand.

Fund allocation to bulid houses under the Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana
Under this especial housing policy for the widows, by the state govt. of Jharkhand, it has made some decisions regarding the amount to be allocated to the beneficiaries so that they can use it to build new housing units. This housing fund can also be utilized for renovation and repair work of the existing house. The housing fund will be credited directly in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. This fund allocation will be made in three installments. So for this, the beneficiaries will have to give details of their savings bank account, where the housing fund will be deposited, while registering for the Awas Yojana.

Added pension policy for widows
Along with the announcement of housing facilities for the widows of the state of Jharkhand, the CM has made another important announcement of providing pensions to the widows of the state. The widows who are the residents of the state will receive monthly pensions after attaining a certain age. This pension will also be automatically credited in the bank accounts of the widows. At first, the widows belonging to the financially backward classes, scheduled tribes, scheduled casted and minorities will be targeted under both the housing as well as the pension scheme.
