Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme
The Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) is an administrative approval Scheme which was launched by the state government. The scheme was estimated at a cost of rupees one thousand six hundred thirty eight core. The scheme has been developed by the state government for the betterment of farmers. The government has used the pavement for calling tenders for two out of four packages. The tenders in for lifting 3500 cusecs and the water are extracted from the Godavari River. From Purushothapatnam in Seethanagaram, the river water is drawn from the Godavari from the eastern part of Godavari.
Sources for the scheme
In order to establish the scheme one need to find the right sources and to have the sources the government has looked establish certain facility that would improve the opportunity for the farmers to extract water from the rivers and these establishments of the sources are depicted in the points given below:
- There will ten pump sets which will be used for carrying water from the river at a depth of 40.80 km and thereby it help in facilitating the canal with the water.
- The Polavaram left canal is also used as the source of water. From this particular canal which is at a depth of 23.44 km the water is lifted and is provided to the farmers for betterment of their agricultural feild.
- The Yeleru reservoir is also used for lifting the water. The water that is drawn under this particular scheme meets the requirements of drinking water as well irrigation land over the areas of 4 Lakh acres.
- Moreover the arrangement for around 50 thousand acres area is split into 43 thousand and 7 thousand acres are also cultivated with the help of water from the Yeleru canal.
In the recent occasions the water in the canal as well as in the river is not much therefore the farmers are suffering from the water crisis. The engineers associated with such department are constantly working for developing the condition of the farmer.
Declaration
The chief minister of this particular state Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has been trying hard and therefore asked the officials associated with Polavaram to report on the scheme which is named as PLIS. The government has also asked the officials to have the control over that particular problem with in tenure of six months. The success of the scheme will have huge benefit for the farmers and that would lead to reduce the unequal distribution of income and thereby the farmers can have better yield from their field.

The declarations that the government has made has allowed the officials to have certain plans for it and thereby the Tuni circle superintendent of engineer Mr. S. Sugunakar Rao worked actively for such step and thereby leading to the development of the scheme with better irrigation facilities for the farmers.
Based on the scheme several surveys was made for the benefits of the farmers and as per the survey, over 10 km from the Purushothapatnam was made and then it was decided that a pipe will be laid which will have the diameter of minimum 5 meter and it must and should have the span of 100m. The pipe line will be used to carry water for the PLIS over a length of 48.2 km till the point of Polavaram sluice. It is also decided that the water would allowed to flow into the Gandikota and the flow will be maintained with the help of gravity.

The scheme has been useful for the people across the state. By implementing such schemes the government is allowing the farmers to have better yield with sufficient water. The supply of water has also allowed the farmers to maintain the quality of soil therefore the farmers as well as the people of this particular state is largely benefited with such scheme.
The scheme introduced by the government has helped the people to have equal distribution of income and thereby reducing the density of poor people over the state. The scheme has also allowed the market to have uniform value and therefore every people could easily afford to have the yield.

The scheme has also allowed the farmers to maintain the soil quality and therefore the scheme has also helped to maintain the nature with better reformation. Therefore they could easily come up with the leguminous plants and other plantations that would be useful for the soil. Thus the overall production in this particular state is maintained with the help of this particular scheme.
