Free Chemotherapy Treatment Scheme [ Cancer Treatment] In 10 Districts Of Maharashtra, Hospital List, Centers, Eligibility Criteria, Poor People
The state government of Maharashtra has announced the introduction of the New Chemotherapy facilities in the selected districts. As per the statements made the new facility will be provided by the state government free of cost in selected districts and health care centers. The state government has also announced to get started with the implementation of the scheme as Pilot project.
Launched Date and Details
As per the latest statements made by the state government, the new services will be operational state wide starting from June 10th 2018. As per another updates, in the initial stage the pilot project will be implemented in over 10 Districts within the state. The government will also be extending the facility in other districts within the state as well in later stages.
Key Features And Facility Under the Free Program
- One of the main benefits of the new initiative is that the services will be provided by the state government free of cost. So the patients suffering from cancer and not well economically will be able to get free Chemotherapy treatment in selected hospitals and districts.
- This will offer with convenience where they will not have to worry about expensive treatments and medications for curing cancer conditions. For implementation the government has in initial stages selected districts of Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Amravati and Gadchiroli in Maharashtra.
- Apart from this the facility will also be made available in Akola district, Bhandara district, Satara and Wardha District in the state.
- For effective implementation the government has announced that it shall be offering with right level of training to the selected staff of nurse and Physicians for technical training.
- The government will carry out a three week training program for the technical guidance. The training shall be offered to them at the Tata Hospital and the training shall begin from Month of May 2018.
- It is expected that with the above mentioned facility it is expected that over 11 lakhs patients will be getting benefit of the therapy on yearly basis. The government has decided to run the above mentioned drive so that more number of patients suffering from cancer conditions can get benefit as over five lakhs out of 28 lakh registered cases of cancer patients suffer death due to lack of facilities every year.
- As over lakhs of patients are admitted in Tata Memorial hospital every year for the treatment so the above mentioned drive will help reduce the treatment burden as the facility will be available in most districts within the state.
The state government aims that with the free chemotherapy facility more number of cancer patients will be able to get benefit of the treatment without the need to travel to Mumbai. They will be able to access these services in their respective districts for free.

The newest scheme, associated with the betterment of cancer patients is all set to roll on from 1st July, 2018. It is a special initiative scheme that has been taken by Maharashtra state government, under the leadership of Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis. Under this health care scheme, poor people will receive chemo therapy for free. It will be implemented in phases, and Phase I will commence from July this year. For this phase, Amravati, Gadchiroli, and Jalgaon have been selected. The same benefits will be offered at Wardha and Pune as well. This project will assist the state authority to offer free treatment to financially weak candidates.
