“Earn While You Learn” Scheme Program in Maharashtra 2018-19 [Stipend] Eligibility Criteria, Documents Application Form Download Process

Agriculture is the main occupation of people in most states in India. But most farmers do not have access to proper details. Thus, they fail to follow accurate farming steps. But students who study in agricultural colleges have access to scientific data for ensuring better agricultural output. So, the state will take the help of students. For their service, the students will receive grants from the state. The name of this scheme is “Earn While You Learn” program. The grant will encourage the students to take part in filed work.

Launch details

The “Earn While You Learn” agricultural scheme was officially launched by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. CM Devendra Fadnavis declared on the Saturday, 5^th of May, 2018 that the state agricultural department will take the assistance of agricultural students to develop and implement better policies.

Key features of the scheme

1. Development of agricultural sector – If the state is interested in increasing the agricultural output, then they need to distribute proper information among the farmers. The scheme will assist the state to do this precisely.
2. Easy collection and analysis of farm data – The students, studying in agricultural colleges will be sent on filed projects. They will not only provide farmers with information, but will also collect samples, farm data, and production figures. These figures will be analyzed in labs.
3. Distributions of information – Often farmers do not find necessary information that can improve the crop production. As students will have to visit the farms for filed study, they will be able to interact with the agricultural workers personally, and offer them necessary feedback.
4. Better assistance for farmers – The agricultural college students have academic knowledge about agriculture. The farmers lack these details. The students will be able to inform the farmers about proper practices. It will develop the agricultural scenario and increase the output.
5. Preparing students – The field work will offer the agricultural students adequate knowledge and experience to handle the on-ground situations. When the pass out of the colleges and enter the professional sector, they will have a better idea about what needs to be done.
6. Stipend amount – The state government will pay a certain fee to all participating students. The amount and payment frequency has not been decided by the state government as of now. The stipend may be given on a monthly or yearly basis.
7. Prevention of double sowing – The main cause of low agricultural output in the states is due to faulty double sowing patterns. With the assistance of the agricultural advisors, the farmers will gain knowledge about proper agricultural patterns.
8. State funded – The stipend that will be given to the participation students, will be provided by the state government. The implementation of such a scheme will require financial assistance. It will be provided by the state authority.

Application process

The scheme has only been announced by the state government. It will be sometime before it is actually implemented. Once the rules have been outlined by the state agricultural department, it will upload details about the application process. The Agricultural colleges will be notified accordingly.

Collaboration with agricultural colleges

The state agricultural department will collaborate with all agricultural colleges, located within the state boundary. The launch of the scheme was attended by the VCs of all agricultural colleges. They have the resources to analyze the data, and will play a vital role in the development of farming mechanism.
